Public BBQ

A small, elegant urban garden off Canterbury Road, planted with specimen trees more than 120 years old and laid out around a bandstand that makes an excellent spot for a children's party. There are free barbecues with tables and chairs, a drinking fountain, a gazebo, manicured lawns with gentle slopes, and information boards on the garden's history. Lighting after dark makes an evening barbecue practical, though the toilets are locked after 8pm, and the working ones are at the front near the toy library rather than at the back. The train station is close by. There is no playground within the gardens, but one sits just across the road at the Chaucer Crescent exit. The local Christmas carols are held here each December.

Generally No! The BBQs are first come, first serve. However, if you plan on having a larger event then please check with Boroondara council.

Aussie public BBQs are simple to use. Majority of sites listed on this website are gas or electric BBQs. Simply press the button and it will turn on for a set amount of time (10-20 minutes).

You should first check with Boroondara council about the rules and restrictions.

Generally, it is permissible to utilize your own gas BBQ, provided it remains under continuous supervision. However, the usage of Charcoal BBQ's is typically restricted, with the exception of parks equipped with designated charcoal disposal bins.
